Jared Finkelstein on padel court

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: JARED FINKELSTEIN

Meet Jared

Jared is a Wealth Manager in his 40s who relocated from New York City to Miami during COVID. Until that move, padel wasn’t on his radar at all. That changed in January 2021, when a friend convinced him to play. From that first rally, Jared knew his life had changed – and padel quickly became a central part of it.

Since then, he’s committed himself to training, competing, and immersing himself in the culture of the sport. Padel has opened the door to travel across the United States and internationally, all while doing something he genuinely loves.

Mission: Grow Padel in the US

Jared’s mission is to help grow padel in the United States. The sport has added so much value to his life that he wants others to experience the same joy, connection, and sense of purpose. Being around padel brings out the best version of himself – it’s his happy place. He works toward this mission by building meaningful relationships across the padel ecosystem and by showing up on court, competing around the world.

Jared’s Reflections

Competition is at the heart of Jared’s journey. Over the past year, he competed in 16 sanctioned USPA tournaments across the country, finishing the season ranked #53 in the United States. A standout moment was representing Team USA in London at the inaugural Anglo-American Cup – an experience that blended competition, community, and national pride.

Off the court, Jared also enjoys contributing to the sport in different ways. He’s served as a media correspondent at Red Padel Tournaments, interviewing players, providing commentary, and sharing event updates,  staying close to the action in every sense.

Biggest Challenge & Solution

Staying healthy is the biggest test. Some tournaments require five matches across three days, often on back-to-back weekends. The physical and mental demands are relentless, making recovery essential. Jared approaches this methodically, prioritising stretching before and after matches and using every recovery tool available to be ready for the next challenge.

The Plan for 2026

2026 will look much the same, and that’s exactly how Jared likes it. With a full slate of tournaments already lined up, his focus remains on competing, connecting, and contributing to the sport’s growth. With around 900 active padel courts currently in the U.S., he’s optimistic that number will surpass 1,300 by the end of this year, marking another big step forward for padel stateside.
