Meet Bethany Eccles
Bethany discovered padel in May 2024 after spotting a game in Battersea Park and being instantly drawn to the energy on court. At the time, she was training for triathlons to stay fit, but found the process quite isolating. Padel offered something completely different – a sport that was not only challenging and fun, but deeply social. From her very first rally, she was hooked.
"At the time, I was training for triathlons to stay fit, but I found it quite isolating. Padel immediately stood out for how sociable and enjoyable it was, and I was hooked from the start.

Coach Insights
For beginners, Bethany’s advice is simple and effective: focus on ball placement and moving your opponents around the court, rather than trying to hit every shot with power. And above all, enjoy it. Padel should always be fun.
Creating Content & Growing as a Coach
When it comes to building a presence and producing content, Bethany encourages coaches to collaborate with other players and coaches, engage with their audience, and not be afraid to post consistently. Sharing knowledge openly and showing up regularly is key.
Community & Looking Ahead
Bethany believes strong padel communities are built by creating enjoyable experiences on court and delivering lessons that make players want to come back. Looking ahead to 2026, she’s most excited about introducing more people to the sport – particularly children and women – and helping padel continue to grow in an inclusive, welcoming way.
