About Cardiff City House of Sport’s Padel Courts

Cardiff City House of Sport brought padel to the Welsh capital in 2023, transforming part of House of Sport 1 into a brand-new home for one of the fastest-growing sports.

Originally the site of a 3G football pitch, the area was redeveloped to create three high-quality indoor padel courts. Demand quickly exceeded expectations, and by 2024 plans were already in place to double capacity. By early 2025, six state-of-the-art courts became available, reflecting House of Sport’s commitment to providing world-class sporting facilities for the South Wales community.

What Makes Them Unique

Cardiff City House of Sport offers fully indoor courts within a multi-sport complex right next to Cardiff City Stadium. This ensures play is never interrupted by the weather (nobody likes when their game is rained off), while the professional environment allows players to focus purely on the game.

The courts are part of a wider sports hub that includes other facilities – a welcoming café, and social spaces – making it more than just a place to play padel.

Facilities & Experience

Players and visitors can expect:

  • Six indoor padel courts with high-quality surfaces and lighting.

  • Reception, café, and a viewing area for friends and family to watch.

  • Changing rooms and showers.

  • Equipment hire (rackets and balls).

  • An onsite padel shop, Padel Speed, offering expert advice, rackets, clothing, and accessories.

Cardiff City House of Sport combines the community feel of a local sports centre with the high standards of a professional facility.

Community

Padel has quickly become a social cornerstone of House of Sport. With events like The Padel Social: After Dark and tournaments organised by Padel Speed, the courts attract players of all levels and keep them engaged.

Beginners can take part in friendly social sessions, while competitive players have opportunities to join leagues and ladders. The focus is always on inclusivity and creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes padel fun and accessible for everyone.

Looking Ahead

The immediate priority is to promote the newly expanded padel facilities and continue to grow The Padel Social: After Dark, a monthly 18+ event blending padel, music, drinks, and games. Taking place on the last Saturday of each month, the evening offers the chance to connect on and off the court in a lively, social setting.
