CLUB SPOTLIGHT:
HOLY PADEL
- Arnhem, Netherlands
- Jamie Rowe
In the heart of the Dutch city of Arnhem lies one of the most extraordinary padel venues in Europe – Holy Padel, a club set inside a beautifully restored church.
The Story Behind Holy Padel
Founded by Roland Verheij in 2024, Holy Padel is the result of vision, persistence, and a love for padel. Over 20 years ago, Roland purchased the disused church with dreams of giving it new life. Several redevelopment plans came and went — from social housing to a supermarket — but none picked up sufficient momentum.
As a passionate padel player who missed regular games, Roland had a sudden idea after discovering mobile padel court installations: why not bring padel to the church? With the location already approved for sports use, the concept came to life — blending history, architecture, and modern sport in unique fashion.
Facilities & Experience
Players are treated to a one-of-a-kind padel experience. The club features:
-
Two doubles courts and one singles court, all inside the church.
-
Fully automated access — players receive a code to enter the facility.
-
On-site automated rentals for rackets and balls.
-
Modern, high-end changing rooms with showers.
-
Advanced camera systems for both security and site preservation.
Looking Ahead
The future of Holy Padel looks bright. Plans are underway to add outdoor courts and a café, further enhancing the player experience.
And perhaps the most exciting innovation — the introduction of laser technology that detects when the ball hits the glass before the ground, instantly lighting up red. No more debates about whether it was out or not (or at least fewer debates!).
