CATFORD PADEL COLLECTIVE

About the Catford Padel Collective

Catford Padel Collective is where old-school London sport meets a new generation of players.

Originally part of Catford Wanderers Sports Club, a heritage institution dating back to 1906, padel is the first new sport to join the club since 1934 – built on what was once just an overflow car park.

It’s a revival of a local classic. A bold, modern padel club that keeps the community spirit of Wanderers alive, while welcoming a whole new crowd into the fold. Conveniently located beside Beckenham Place Park, it’s become a natural meeting point for both long-time locals and newcomers to South East London.

Club Launch

From the moment the doors opened, Catford Padel Collective captured attention across SE London.

The existing Wanderers community came to see what all the buzz was about, younger players were thrilled to have padel courts nearby, and long-time members took pride in seeing a new chapter unfold.

“Turning an empty patch of tarmac into a padel destination that feels stylish and community-led was no small feat, but seeing everyone together, coffee in hand, rackets flying, made it worth it.”

What Makes It Unique

Catford Padel has made a heritage sports club feel modern again, and done it authentically and with respect. With bold branding, creative energy, and a distinctly SE London personality, the club blends tradition with modern attitude.

Of course it’s not just about the courts – it’s about community. The mix of Beckenham and Catford locals, young professionals, and families makes it a welcoming, character-filled destination for everyone who walks through the gates.

“The design, the branding, the energy – it’s distinctly SE London: modern, creative, a little bit cheeky, but always welcoming.”

Facilities & Experience

Players can enjoy three outdoor floodlit courts, a refurbished clubhouse, and a relaxed social atmosphere.

“Grab a coffee and cake from Mags, or a Guinness that’s still priced like it’s 1995, and take in the view over the cricket fields.”

There are changing rooms, showers, and plenty of space to unwind. It’s a place where people come to play, and stay.

Community

At its heart, Catford Padel Collective is about connection. It builds on the strong foundations of Catford Wanderers, uniting lifelong members with new faces. It’s about players of all backgrounds sharing games, drinks, and stories side by side, on and off the court.

It’s this blend of heritage and new energy that gives the club its unique spark.

Looking Ahead

The journey so far is just the very beginning. Next up are socials, tournaments, and more local outreach to continue building a community that reflects the best of South East London.

Although early days, Catford Padel Collective is on track to become a true SE London institution, where 1906 heritage meets modern culture, and an old sports club suddenly feels like the newest spot in town!
