About Ballers
Ballers was founded by business and life partners David Gutstadt and Amanda Potter – longtime racquet-sport enthusiasts with deep roots in wellness and hospitality. Both previously held leadership roles at Equinox and Equinox Hotels, where they helped shape world-class experiences built around movement, design, and community.
Through their Philadelphia-based hospitality firm, Good City Studio, David and Amanda set out to reimagine what a modern sports club could be. Ballers was born from a simple but powerful belief – people want more than just a place to work out. They want a vibrant third space where they can play, connect, socialize, and belong.
Designed at the intersection of sport, culture, and hospitality, Ballers brings country-club sports into an urban setting, creating an inclusive, design-forward environment that fosters community both on and off the court.
In November 2025, Ballers Philadelphia officially opened its doors with a VIP grand opening for more than 450 guests, headlined by a celebrity pickleball exhibition match featuring Terrell Owens, Connor Garnett, founder David Gutstadt, and pickleball personality Kaitlyn Kerr.
Since opening, the Ballers community has continued to grow inside its awe-inspiring indoor space, which combines elevated design with world-class sports facilities, dedicated recovery areas, and distinctive dining concepts. Open to players of all ages and skill levels, the club delivers a high-energy social sports experience with no membership required.
What Makes Ballers Unique
Ballers is more than a sports facility – it’s a cultural hub where sport, fashion, art, and community intersect. The experience extends far beyond the courts, with multiple dining concepts, bars, a members-only gym, locker rooms, a recovery suite, and a packed calendar of events.
Ballers has hosted major sports moments, including the Super Bowl LIX ring ceremony, alongside a wide range of city-wide sports and cultural events.
The club is backed by an impressive roster of celebrity investors and professional athletes, including tennis icons Andre Agassi, Kim Clijsters, and Sloane Stephens; world No. 3 pickleball player Connor Garnett; MLS star and padel enthusiast Maarten Paes; as well as current and former NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes, and David Blitzer. Together, they’re helping reshape the social sports landscape in the U.S.
Facilities & Experience
Ballers offers one of the most distinctive padel environments in the country. Its three premium padel courts are housed inside the iconic Turbine Hall in the Battery along the Delaware River – a former power plant transformed into a 55,000-square-foot, column-free space with ceilings reaching up to 75 feet. The industrial-chic design preserves the building’s historic character while creating a dramatic setting for play.
Beyond padel, Ballers Philadelphia features six pickleball courts, two squash courts, a 95 × 45 ft multi-purpose turf field, four golf simulators, and a full-sized contoured putting green with real sand bunkers.
Members enjoy exclusive access to a fully equipped gym, a luxe recovery and wellness lounge, and premium locker rooms complete with saunas and cold plunges – delivering a truly holistic sports and lifestyle experience.
Community
Community sits at the heart of Ballers. The club brings people together through a shared love of sport, supported by thoughtful programming designed to create meaningful connections. Padel offerings include lessons, clinics, open play sessions, and leagues, while the wider social sports club experience is anchored by a café, bar, and restaurant that keep players fueled and connected.
What sets Ballers apart is its ability to feel like a second home – a place where high-quality coaching meets high-quality connections.
Looking Ahead
Ballers’ expansion is well underway. In November 2025, the club opened its second location in the Boston Seaport, featuring three padel courts, five pickleball courts, a skating rink, food trucks, and winter igloos.
Looking further ahead, they’ll open a flagship location in downtown Los Angeles at the former Macy’s building at The Bloc by the end of 2026. Spanning 100,000 square feet, the space will include 18 pickleball courts and four padel courts – the first of their kind in DTLA – alongside golf simulators, football pitches, premium retail, multiple bars, a full-service restaurant, and an expansive recovery zone.
As Ballers continues to scale, its mission remains clear – to build inclusive, culture-driven social sports clubs that redefine how cities play, connect, and come together.
