National Padel Month kicked off yesterday. For the entire month, USA Padel is bringing the country’s clubs, coaches and brands together behind one campaign, with a single aim: getting more people in the US onto a padel court.

USA Padel announced the initiative in June. It has three main parts: “Learn To Play” programmes at clubs across the country, the US Open Padel Championships, which start today, and the first USA Padel Awards. The aim, according to Executive Director and CEO Scott Colebourne, is to give the whole of American padel one focus for a month.

“Our primary objective is to accelerate padel’s footprint across the US by driving awareness, lowering the barrier to entry for first-time players, and unifying clubs, coaches, and brands under a single nationwide campaign in October,” Colebourne told World Padel Network.

Why October

“We wanted a dedicated focal point on the calendar to mobilize the entire domestic padel community,” Colebourne says. “October serves as the perfect window to anchor the initiative around the US Open Padel Championships while providing ideal fall [autumn] weather for court play nationwide.”

This year’s US Open, presented by Fresca Hard, runs from 2 to 4 October. It is a USA Padel 2500 event played across several Padel Haus venues in New York. The Division 1 main draws and all finals take place at Padel Haus Greenpoint in Brooklyn, which is hosting the tournament for a third year. The Division 1 prize pool is a record $40,000, split equally between the men’s and women’s draws, with $9,000 for each winning team. The finals will be streamed on USA Padel’s YouTube channel. On Saturday 3 October, USA Padel will also hold its first live Town Hall for players and members.

Measuring success

Colebourne says success will be judged on participation and engagement: “We are targeting high engagement across nationwide introductory clinics, strong attendance and viewership for the US Open Padel Championships, and broad participation in the inaugural USA Padel Awards.”

The infrastructure is growing quickly. USA Padel counted just over 1,000 courts across 31 states in April, and the number of sanctioned open tournaments has risen from 104 in 2025 to 255 on this year’s schedule. The challenge now is turning first-time players into regulars, which is exactly what October is designed to do.

A single place to start

The centre of the month is the new player. To make first steps easier, USA Padel has just launched a New Player Program Finder, which brings beginner programmes from clubs across the country into one search. At launch it lists nearly 80 clubs in 25 states, from Brooklyn, Boston and Miami to Austin, Denver, Las Vegas and the Bay Area.

The programmes vary by club: intro clinics, free trial sessions, multi-week beginner courses, beginner socials and National Padel Month specials. Each listing shows the club’s location, number of courts and programme details, with a direct link to book.

Clubs and coaches can still join

USA Padel is still inviting more venues to take part. “We are actively welcoming additional clubs, venues, and certified coaches to join the movement,” Colebourne says. Clubs, venues and coaches who want to host a Learn To Play session can email info@padelusa.org.

A role for the international industry

National Padel Month is a US campaign, but USA Padel wants the rest of the industry involved. Its partners already include international names such as NOX, Mejorset, AFP Courts and World Padel Rating, alongside US businesses such as Padel Haus, Van Eck, Sportsfield and Psycho Bunny.

“The US market represents one of the largest growth opportunities for padel globally,” Colebourne says. “We encourage European brands, equipment manufacturers, and international federations to support the movement by amplifying National Padel Month content, cross-promoting activations, and engaging with the growing American player base.”

For brands and manufacturers already looking at the US, October is a clear moment to reach a lot of new players at the same time.
