About Suzanne Baum
Suzanne’s padel journey began around two years ago, when, as a fitness editor, she was invited to be the first journalist to step onto the courts at Padium (padel club in London). Playing alongside the head coach, she was introduced to padel for the first time – and after covering almost every fitness trend going, padel was the only one that truly excited her.
While the spark was instant, it wasn’t until more clubs opened across North West London in 2025 that padel became a constant in her life. Since then, she hasn’t looked back. Suzanne now plays four times a week and has fully caught the padel bug (like so many of us!).
What started as a personal passion quickly turned into something bigger. Through her social media, word of mouth, and the many articles she writes about the sport – see why padel is so good for older women, and padel equipment to bring on your padel holiday – Suzanne has encouraged countless women to pick up a racket – often for the very first time. Her impact was recognised when she was listed in the top ten new padel influencers of 2025 by Cage 91 Co. and later nominated for Top Influencer at the British Padel Awards.
Her mission has always been simple: to spread the love of padel and show mid-life women that it’s never too late to find a sport that brings joy while supporting both mental and physical wellbeing. Along the way, she’s become the first ambassador for her local Social Sports Society padel club and more recently an ambassador for the newly opened Racketeer padel club in North London.
Getting Involved
The best way to follow Suzanne’s padel journey is via her Instagram, where she regularly shares her playing, events, and behind-the-scenes moments from the padel world. Alongside social media, she writes extensively about the sport for various outlets.
Through her work, Suzanne also collaborates with a wide range of brands and regularly writes shopping guides. She enjoys helping players – particularly those new to the sport – navigate what to buy, from rackets and shoes to clothing and balls, while also sharing more advanced recommendations for experienced players looking for the best options on the market.
Padel Event Host & Presenting
Last year, Suzanne hosted and presented at around 15 padel events, spanning corporate activations, professional showcases, and charitable tournaments – with the charity-linked events being especially close to her heart.
One standout moment was presenting an event for the charity Grief Encounter, which brought together high-profile names including John Terry and Joe Wicks. The event raised over £55,000 and remains a highlight of her presenting journey.
Looking ahead, Suzanne already has six events booked this year, many of them supporting charities she deeply cares about – and she’s excited to bring the same energy and passion to each one!
Reflections
Suzanne’s favourite part of her padel journey has been discovering that she can not only enjoy, but genuinely be good at, a sport in her fifties – after a lifetime of not connecting with fitness in that way. Beyond the physical side, padel has introduced her to new friendships and a sense of joy that stays with her long after leaving the court.
Padel has also played a meaningful role in supporting her mental health. Having experienced anxiety, Suzanne credits the sport with helping her manage it – the endorphins, the focus, and the need to stay present all make a powerful difference. Working in breaking news can be intense, so stepping onto the court, switching off her phone, and disconnecting from news feeds has become one of her most effective ways to reset and recharge.
Looking Ahead To 2026
For Suzanne, the year ahead isn’t about chasing something new – it’s about continuing to do what she loves. Being involved with Racketeer as the club grows is something she’s particularly excited about, but equally important are the smaller, personal rituals.
Her regular Friday game with close girlfriends is a non-negotiable – part padel, part therapy session! They play, laugh, talk about everything, and leave the court with a spring in their step. For Suzanne, that perfectly captures what padel is all about.
