New Padel Scoring for 2026: The Star Point

What Is The "Star Point"? The New Padel Scoring System For 2026

The Star Point is a single, game-deciding point that is played on the Third Advantage within padel. It’s a new point scoring system that will be introduced next month (January 2026).

It works in three stages:

1) First Advantage – If the team with advantage loses, the score returns to 40-40.

2) Second Advantage – If the team with advantage loses, Star Point is activated.

3) Star Point is a single decisive point — the winner takes the game.

Note: If a team with advantage wins during the First Advantage or Second Advantage, they win the game as normal.

According to The International Padel Federation, it was added to limit “the maximum number of points that can be played in a game, avoiding prolonged advantage situations.”

The aim is to improve “player welfare” and enhance “fans engagement.”
